Lietuvos nepriklausomybės kova
I researched, designed and produced - ‘Lithuania's fight for independence’ - for the ISTD ‘Milestone’ competition brief.
This book uses typography to tell a story and lead people on a journey of history, pain and joy. Discussing history, literature, rebellions and motivations that Lithuanian people have experienced in order to describe why, on 13th January 1991, people decided to fight unarmed and defenceless for the Lithuanian Language. People standing side by side using their own bodies to block tanks and soldiers from taking over their home.
It has been a gift to design this book as it has provided me the opportunity to immortalise the stories of my country and of my family’s experience as they witnessed it, both adults and children, in person or on TV. It allowed me to truly appreciate typography as a tool for storytelling and as an evoker of emotions.
